Smoking is one of the most dangerous addictions of our time, largely responsible for lung disease and lung cancer, as well as chronic lung disease and cancer of the lip, mouth and throat. Smoking during pregnancy, which unfortunately occurs in a significant percentage in our country, causes respiratory disease in newborns. In addition to the later onset of asthma, it is a proven cause of laryngitis and croup. Almost two million people in Hungary smoke every year. 14-16% of pregnant women in Hungary smoke and half of them continue smoking after giving birth. At the same time, the number of premature births is 10%.
