Both professional literature and everyday people concerned (big) cities as typically unhealthy, pathogenic and dangerous places, mainly because they are perceived as diagonally opposed to nature in every aspect. The study reviews the myths of the ?disease-causing city" and the ?humane nature". We explain that by modern environmental psychology, the city and nature is interrelations are rather balanced. For example, by optimal architectural solutions, the built environment may optimize the nervous system's background activity, and implementing city parks, "urban green" or walkability improves the quality of life even in intensive urban environments.
