Purpose: Genetic factors and environmental components interact to trigger a series of events that lead to the development of autoimmune diseases. There is a higher incidence of autoimmune diseases in women than in men. Women with autoimmune diseases are more likely to develop infertility and to have recurrent miscarriages or other obstetric complications, including premature birth. A narrative review was undertaken to assess the impact of the appearance of autoimmune diseases at various stages in women?s lives and to draw attention to the importance of timely recognition, effective treatment, and appropriate care. Materials and methods: A narrative review was conducted to examine key aspects of the current management of autoimmune diseases. Results: Of the 215 publications identified in the literature search, 22 were included. These covered the main aspects: risk factors, appearance at different stages of women?s lives, comorbidities, social influences, pillars of treatment, and nursing care. Conclusion: The narrative review highlights factors relevant to the management of autoimmune diseases, which mainly affect women. Timely recognition and the role of multidisciplinary teams are crucial in achieving better quality of life for patients. Kulcsszavak: autoimmune diseases in women, life stages in autoimmune diseases
