Childhood obesity is a disease of civilization and its incidence has increased tenfold worldwide in 40 years. We conducted a questionnaire survey to assess the lifestyle factors of the students of grades 4-8 of the Esterházy Móric Language Teaching German Nationality Primary School in Csákvár in relation to obesity. 164 students completed the questionnaire. Overfed, overweight and morbidly obese children together represent 37% of the sample. In terms of gender, 14% and 23% of boys and girls, respectively, are overnourished, 11% of boys and 14% of girls, respectively, are overweight, and 4% and 6%, respectively, are morbidly obese. The percentages of overnutrition, overweight, and morbid obesity combined are similar across grades. The highest rate, 42%, is found in 5" grade. ln assessing students' attitudes toward their own health and its importance, only 35% of the 164 respondents said their health was vert' important to them, 34% said it was important, 25% said it was moderately important, 5% said it was less important, and 0.6% said it was not important at all. Boys and girls overwhelmingly (53% and 48%, respectively) believe they are only partially eatíng right. The státement "Healthy eating equals dieting" was considered false by 68% of students and true by 32%. Regarding the impact of obesity on health, more than half of the students, 55%, are aware of the causal relationship between obesity and diabetes. 25% of students eat three meals a day. Eating five meals a day is not really typical among young people, only 12%, and 16% do not keep track of how many times they eat a day. Daily fruit consumption is typical for 35% of the total sample, and daily vegetable consumption is typical for 28%. Soft drinks are consumed mostly once a week by young people (34%). Chips are eaten once a week by 51%. Conclusions: Comparing the results of our research with national and international studies, it was highlighted that the situation is no different when it comes to students' health behavior in the field of nutrition.
