lntroduction: Sydenham chorea associated with group A streptococcal infection, is one of the maior clinical manifestations of acute rheumatic fever and the most common form of acquired chorea in childhood. Case presentation: A ten-year-old boy was admitted to our department with progressive involuntary choreiform movement disorder affecting the right side of the body and dysarthria. Because of the possibility of Sydenham chorea, he was started on a combination therapy of penicillin, methylprednisolone and valproic acid after differential diagnosis. After three months he became asymptomatic and is currently under neurological follow-up. Discussion: ln case of Sydenham chorea, complete recovery is expected, however chorea recurs in 15-30 percent of cases. Patients with Sydenham chorea require close neurological follow-up.
