Atherosclerosis begins in childhood and adolescence. Risk factors have also been found in the Hungarian pediatric population. The Pediatric Section of the Hungarian Atherosclerosis Society (PSHAS) was founded for the prevention of the early development of the disease, but its work was almost damaged by the coronary virus problems. ln November 2022 a group was founded in 21 places lor the renewal ol the preventive work in all counties of Hungary. This paper shows the work and very early results according to the data of '11 places. Risk lactors were found in 239 patients during the first examination. After the common 2-4 months long care (together with parents, family doctors and special nurses) 165 patients participated in the control examination. The main changes in their parameters were a decrease in the mean serum triglycerideiHDL cholesterol ratio from 148 to 1.28 mmol/L and a decrease in the mean fasting plasma insulin level from 291 to 19.6 pU.
