Birth is the miracle of life and it is the most supernatural experience of our whole life. This intimate situation can open the way to supernatural thoughts. 0ur longing for spirituality increases exponentially in critical situations and gives rise to religion and the world of beliefs. Spirituality is relatively seldom discussed in Hungarian health literature, and international publications are also mainly concerned with end-of-life care. Research on the relationship between spirituality/religion and health care is hampered by the lack of consensus on definitions and the sensitivity of the topic. ln the care of newborns and premature infants, real results can be achieved when parents are present and involved, which includes the spiritual care ol the whole family. This article has been shaped primarily by the most common Christian movements in our country, but we emphasize the importance of religious freedom, so that other world religions and popular beliefs must also be taken into account. The topics of spirituality and religion 0pens up profound perspectives, this paper was intended to be thought-provoking and to raise this topic up for discussion.  Kulcsszavak: spirituality, religion, faith, neonatology, NIPU (Newborn lntensive Parenting Unit)
