Most of the studies referring to the past of nursing focus on the modern era and are based on the reforming work of Florence Nightingale, - the Mother of Nursing. While looking back to the history of nursing, it can be said that it was concerned pre-eminently as a female profession. Nowadays, patient care is clearly dominated by women with one out of ten male proportion. At the same time, it is important to note that throughout the history there were not exclusively females who represented nursing and care of patients.
