Frequently, such as during automobile collisions, the injury mechanism of the cervical spine is not precisely understood therefore we are not able to establish efficient and robust prevention, diagnostic or treatment methods. Hence, a detailed analysis is still necessary by modelling the spine and its components as accurately as possible with the help of present technical capabilities. In this paper, a preliminary analysis using a 3D finite element model of the cervical spine and the head is presented. In addition, future plans are also presented regarding the topic.  Kulcsszavak: cervical spine, finite element analysis, dynamic loads
