Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) are ubiquitous organisms that can cause a wide array of infections in pediatric populations. It most commonly presents with lymphadenopathy, skin and soft tissue infection (SSTI), disseminated disease in immunocompromised patient and severe chronic pulmonary infection, which will be the primary focus of this paper. NTM has gained attention over recent decades outside of cystic fibrosis (CF), in older adults, often with pre-existing inflammatory lung diseases, however these are most uncommon in children. More recently much of the attention, and particularly in pediatrics has focused on the rising number and severity of NTM infection in patients with cystic fibrosis.
